Joshua Calhoun is a native of Evansville, IN. He currently works for the City of Evansville’s Department of Metropolitan Development as the Community Development Coordinator. He oversees a staff of eight that specialize in compliance to federal grants and operate as points of contact for nonprofits that receive federal grant funds. As Community Development Coordinator, Joshua reports, monitors and assists with the process of allocating federal funds through the Housing Urban Development (HUD) which assists individuals of low to moderate income with housing, jobs, and youth services.
Joshua graduated from North High School and attended the University of Southern Indiana where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science. He is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Business Administration.
Joshua is extremely active in the community and serves in a variety of volunteer roles for nonprofit groups. He serves as the Co-Chair for the Evansville Promise Zone Crime Committee, a staff member for the Affordable Housing Fund Advisory Committee and has served on the Evansville Redevelopment Authority, the Evansville Arts District Design Review Committee, the Commission on the Social Status of African American Males and the Core Committee for the Carver Community Pathfinder’s Program.
Joshua is passionate about building individuals and the community through motivational and inspirational speaking. He regularly speaks at local organizations including the Youth Care Center, the United Methodist Youth Home, the B.O.S.S Academy and others. He is also a minister at Dove Chapel, where he shares his passion for personal development. Above all else, Joshua is a father of four children and a devoted husband of fifteen years.
