Evansville African American Museum

The Evansville African-American Museum (EEAM) was founded in 1999, 17 years ahead of the one in DC! The EAAM’s primary focus is on the Baptisttown area of Evansville during the period of 1930-1950, and is housed in the only remaining building from the Lincoln Gardens,  the second Federal Housing Project created under the administration of Franklin D. Roosevelt’s New Deal in 1938. This beautiful and intimate museum features an apartment styled after the original homes in Lincoln Gardens, interactive exhibits, and more!
